LEGO 497 Galaxy Explorer Classic Space Almost Complete! Vintage 1979

This is my original LEGO 497 Galaxy Explorer set from 1979. It went into a suitcase in the 80s and just reemerged a few months ago. I'm not a LEGO reseller, I'm just eager to find a home for these vintage sets. The set is not complete but a few minutes with a parts list on Bricklink or sim and you could have a fully original Galaxy Explorer! As you can see from the photos we added a few pieces that are not from the original build list in case this is a gift so the recipient will have a'complete' spaceship, but it will need some parts to get it to factory spec.

MANY of the original printed pieces are included so you can tell this isn't a parts bin special. Moon plate is included but landing plate is not.

All of that said, what you see in the photos is what will be in the package you receive, EXCEPT the large plates the set is sitting on and the background, those are for presentation only. I can try to answer questions, but I'm definitely not an expert. Includes 4 space minifigs, 2 red 2 white with helmets and tanks. Set includes gray moon crater base plate, no landing plate is included with this set. Background and 2 large gray plates seen in photos are not included.
