Vintage Tin Battery Operated Space Age Japan King Flying Saucer Ship Patrol Toy
During the 1930's and 1940's, the industries in Japan heavily invested a vast majority of their natural resources for the war, Their government, ruled by the military, stripped several major landmarks constructed of steel and precious material for use in the war efforts........ Due to this circumstance, most of the manufactured products in Japan during those periods were composed of low quality material and manufactured with lower standards...... Meanwhile in the United States, businesses such as Marx and Gilbert lobbied that the country should continue to produce toys for children..... When the Second World War ended, Japanese manufacturers had to make a transition to adapt their industry in order to help reconstruct Japan...... Meanwhile, in the United States, children toys were still an important part of society, and more importantly, the economy...... Fueled further by the growing following of science fiction literature and movies such as Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon, the interest and demand for space age toys grew, This demand for toys influenced the Japanese manufacturers to build an industry manufacturing and exporting low cost toys to the United States...... The true Golden Age for space toys was in the decade of the fifties, when science fiction came of age and movies like "The day the earth stood still" and the launch of Sputnik had young and old alike looking to the heavens...... The designs for space toys in the fifties relied on the imagination of science fiction and were not so much influenced by the real space vehicle designs to come later in the 1960s.....
Using the technology of electric batteries, the Japanese manufacturers gave their toy's a major edge over their western counterparts...... With moving joints, spinning wheels and rolling treadmills, American distributors were challenged by the creativity and quality of Japan's new production line of space age toys....... We have a rare find up for grabs here folk's....... Flying saucers are different from rockets and much cooler.....
Deriving its mythos from various sightings in the late 1940s and early 50s the flying saucers discoid shape is iconic, In science fiction flying saucers transport extraterrestrials and they come from "OUT THERE"..... Beyond the known regions of space.......
This old, space vehicle here was made in Japan around the 1960's and was manufactured by Yoshiya Toy's.... The toy itself is in very nice space, cosmetically......
Unfortunately we tested it and it is not working properly...... The original box is included, which does have some shelf wear....... This is a killer find for any toy collector.....
