Here is a wonderful piece from the MARX Toy company - a WORKING 1968 Marx Moon Creature Tin Wind Up Toy #942. The 1968 Marx Moon Creature (Item #942) is a highly collectible, tin-plated wind-up space alien or "space bug" manufactured in Japan by.

It features a built-in side wind-up key, rolling wheels, and mechanical actions including a moving head and mouth. Size: Approximately 5.75 to 6 inches tall to the tip of the antenna. Body & Graphics: Tin-lithographed body, typically featuring a white uniform with a red harness or collar and a NASA-style logo. Head Design: Two-part head pinned to the sides, featuring googly eyes and a black top antenna.

Action: When wound with the side key, the creature propels forward while its mouth opens and closes and its head moves up and down. Common Condition & Collector Notes. Missing Parts: Due to the fragile, protruding nature of the design, secondhand models are frequently missing their small tin or plastic arms and ears. Original Box: Original packaging featured a printed lunar landscape illustration reading "Mechanical moon creature, moves forward with mouth movement and sound".

Pristine boxed models are valued significantly higher. Brand/Markings: Produced by Yoshiya often marked with the K.

Logo in Japan during the 1960s. Action: Features motorized "mystery action" (bump and go), meaning it will change directions when it bumps into walls or obstacles. Lights & Sound: Designed with illuminated cockpit windows and tail lights, alongside mechanical "helicopter" rotor sounds while in operation.

It typically measures roughly 27 cm (10.25 inches) in length. Pilots: The cockpit windows often feature cutouts or clear plastic displaying moving or stationary pilot figures. Power Source: Typically requires two 1.5-volt D-cell batteries to operate. As a vintage collectible, current market prices vary drastically based on condition and whether the original box is included.

Pristine or "mint in box" (MIB) models often command premium prices, while unboxed or non-working versions are treated as display pieces.
